• Adobe After Effects 2025, 2024
• Windows 10/11 (64-bit) or macOS
• 4GB RAM minimum (8GB+ recommended)
• 25MB available disk space
• Enable “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network” in Preferences > Scripting & Expressions

Known Limitations :

• Does not find or update fonts used within effects (e.g., Numbers or Timecode effects)

Installation:
Copy the script file to your After Effects ScriptUI Panels folder:

• Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [version]\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels\
• Mac: /Applications/Adobe After Effects [version]/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels/

Access via Window menu > Utility Buddy after installation .

This is a useful tool that helps you find and update your fonts, expressions and effects inside your project. NEW: Apply To: More directed approach and not just the entire project anymore!

Fonts

Under the Fonts Tab you can find what comps and layers are using a font. You then can replace all instances of this font with another or remove/hide/show based on your scope. Very useful when in development and the font hasn’t been finalized.

Styles and Effects

The Styles & Effects Tab helps you find the effects and/or layer styles you are using and helps you locate them and add in an effect wherever those effects are or remove all the effects you don’t have in your project. This is useful for when you are sending something off to a client and you need to change Effects to something that they are using or perhaps didn’t realize they don’t have. Great way to update to the newer version aswell.

Expressions

The Expressions Tab helps you find working expressions. This helps you find all expressions that have been setup. This is useful to know if you need to update that expression or need to remove it in one click.

Colors

The Colors Tab helps you find and replace colors in your project. This helps you find all colors that have been set. It will look at all effects, layer styles, fonts, strokes, key frames and everything throughout the project. This is useful to Quickly Change the palette of your project. Perhaps you have a sport team that wants to use the same setup as another team. No worries you can update all the colors at once. It does not do gradients unless you use the gradient effect that uses solid colors to set. But this should help you 90% of the way to setting your colors.
