Daz To Blender Bridge v1.9.3 – The Official Pipeline for Transferring Daz 3D Assets to Blender
Download Daz To Blender Bridge v1.9.3, the official free plugin developed by Daz 3D that seamlessly transfers characters, clothing, props, and environments from Daz Studio directly into Blender. This bridge eliminates the need for manual FBX exporting and re-texturing, automatically converting Daz materials to Blender’s Principled BSDF shader while preserving morphs, rigging, and high-definition details for both Cycles and Eevee render engines [[4]].
Key Features of Daz To Blender Bridge v1.9.3:
- One-Click Transfer: Sends selected figures, props, or entire scenes from Daz Studio to Blender with a single button, bypassing complex export/import settings [[9]].
- Automatic Material Conversion: Intelligently converts Daz Uber/IRAY shaders to Blender’s native Principled BSDF nodes, including correct roughness, normal, and specular maps [[6]].
- Morph & Shape Key Support: Preserves all active morphs (JCMs, expression shapes) as Blender Shape Keys, allowing for full facial and body animation control immediately after import [[11]].
- Rig Compatibility: Maintains the original Daz bone hierarchy and weights, ensuring the character is ready for animation or retargeting without manual weight painting [[9]].
- HD Geometry Baking: Options to bake subdivision surface levels directly during transfer, allowing you to bring in high-poly sculpts without needing to subdivide manually in Blender [[3]].
- Geograft Support: Improved handling of geografted items (like separate heads or hands) to ensure they merge correctly with the base figure’s material zones [[3]].
- Environment & Lighting Transfer: Optionally imports Daz studio lighting setups and HDRI environments to match the look instantly in Blender [[7]].
- Version Compatibility: Supports Blender 2.80 through 3.6+ (including LTS versions) and requires Daz Studio 4.10 or higher [[4]]. Note: While v1.9.3 is a stable legacy version, newer releases may offer enhanced support for Blender 4.x and Genesis 9 figures. [[11]]
Perfect For:
- Character Artists who model in Daz but prefer Blender’s sculpting, rendering, or animation tools.
- Animators needing to utilize Daz’s extensive library of motion-captured animations within Blender’s timeline.
- Illustrators creating high-quality renders using Blender’s Eevee for real-time feedback or Cycles for photorealism.
- Game Developers importing optimized, rigged characters for game engine pipelines.
- Beginners looking to leverage Daz’s easy character creation with Blender’s powerful free toolset.
System Requirements:
- Daz Studio: Version 4.10, 4.11, 4.12, or 23.0+ [[5]].
- Blender: Version 2.80 to 3.6+ (v1.9.3 is optimized for this range; newer bridges support 4.x) [[4]].
- OS: Windows 10/11, macOS 10.15+ (High Sierra or later) [[5]].
- Internet Connection: Required for initial installation and validation via Daz Central/Install Manager.
Installation Instructions:
- Via Daz Install Manager (DIM): Open DIM, locate “Daz to Blender Bridge” in your product list, and click Install. The installer will automatically detect your Daz Studio and Blender versions [[20]].
- Manual Install (Blender Side): If the script doesn’t auto-install in Blender:
- Download the bridge files from your Daz account or GitHub [[20]].
- In Blender, go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons.
- Click Install…, navigate to the downloaded
.zipfile (usually found in your Daz scripts folder), and enable the checkbox [[19]].
- Usage: In Daz Studio, select your figure/prop, go to Windows > Panes (Tabs) > Daz to Blender Bridge, configure settings (e.g., “Export Morphs,” “Bake SubD”), and click Send to Blender [[21]].
Important Note on Versions:
While v1.9.3 is a robust and widely used version, Daz 3D frequently updates the bridge. If you are using Blender 4.0+ or working with Genesis 9 figures, it is highly recommended to check for the latest version (often labeled as “Daz to Blender Bridge 202x”) on the Daz 3D website or GitHub, as newer releases include specific fixes for the latest Blender APIs and figure types [[11]]. However, v1.9.3 remains the standard for stable workflows in Blender 3.5 and earlier.
