parenter v1.0 Script for Printing Different Layers to Each Other in After Effects

Quickly reposition layers without affecting their animation!

This section includes the Parenter script version 1.0 for After Effects, which is available for download on the site. This script allows you to print different layers to each other or print all layers to one null so that all layers change at the same time by changing the same null layer.

Quickly reposition layers without affecting their animation!

No more trying to move layers with position keyframes. With Parenter you just select the layers you want to move, click a button and reposition them all together however you like! It’s that easy! It does not affect the layers’ parenting.

Usage:

1. Select all the layers you want to move
2. Click the “Create Parenter” icon to create a null that all the layers you selected will get parented to
3. Re-position the “Parenter” null to move all your layers to a new location
4. Click the “Remove” icon, to remove the Parenter null and restore all parents

Note:

• Clicking the “Power” icon, enables and disables the Parenter temorarily, so you can reposition it without moving the children
• Clicking the “Create Parenter” button creates the new null at the averaged center of the layers that you have selected
• Control-clicking on the “Create Parenter” button creates the new null at the position of the last selected layer
• Shift-clicking the “Create Parenter” button creates the new null at the center of the composition
• Right-clicking the “Create Parenter” button creates a 3D Parenter null, and can be combined with all the above shortcuts
• Alt-clicking the “Remove” button also restores the transformations of the Parenter

With Parenter, you can also:

• Copy/Paste a parent to multiple layers at once
• Clear parents of selected layers

KBar support

All Parenter buttons except “Copy” and “Paste” can be added to KBar. Check all the function names on the provided instructions.txt file
